Vilnius is a small but picturesque city. The old Town is filled with little streets leading to many busy cafes and restaurants.
You can enter the old town through the Gate of dawn. The gate of dawn is a city gate of Vilnius and one of the most important religous, historical and cultural monuments.

Vilnius has many large squares with pretty churches and cathedrals. But St Peter and St Paul's Church is one of the most beautiful church's in Lithuania. The detail inside is simply incredible.
Tourists fill this impressive church to capture memories, but no photo will ever do this incredible architecture justice.

The beauty of Lithuania only gets better! Trakai Castle is set in the centre of three large lakes. This is such a beautiful area to visit and only 40 minutes from the centre of Vilnius. The red brick of the castle stands out against the blue waters surrounding it. Here you can try paddle boarding, explore the castle or simply sit back and enjoy the view from a restaurant on the waters edge.

Baltic Amber is the precious stone that can found on the beaches of the Baltic countries. These countries are Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. This is a beautiful yellow and orange coloured stone that can be used in jewellery and ornamental pieces. In Vilnius you can find many Amber jewellers, learn how it is created and how to recognise real Amber next to fake Amber. The story behind Baltic Amber is that a mermaid fell in love with a human. This angered her father so he destroyed the kingdom. Pieces of this kingdom, amber, eventually gets washed ashore where we discover it.

The Hill of crosses is a truly haunting place to visit. As its name suggests, this is a hill filled with thousands of crosses. The reason for it is unknown but it is thought to be for religious reasons. The hill of crosses has been demolished three times, the last being in 1963, but it is always recreated. Tourists can buy crosses to add to the ever growing collection.
