Amsterdam is the captial of the Netherlands, and it has so much more to offer than most people think. Drug hazed weekends in a seedy Red Light District is what most may think of when they think of Amsterdam. And even though that maybe true for some peoples wild weekends away, it’s not as scary as you may think.

Ok, sure i was careful at where to eat, not wanting to accidentally intake the Cannabis they sell legally in coffee shops. Some may say i have not experienced the true Dutch culture, but that is always a personal preference.

I was busy losing myself in the canal maze that is Amsterdam, where every street or canal looks the same until you hit the shops. The live merchandise is lit with red neon colours and a real buzz is in the air. This is where your average coffee shop sells substances that are not available over the counter anywhere else.

As a first timer to this city, you may be surprised at how small it is. With less than 800,000 residents, you can jump on your bike and cycle around it in a couple of hours. To travel Amsterdam by bike is the best way to experience the true Dutch capital. Or if cycling isn’t your thing, get a pair of clogs on your feet and explore the narrow streets one step at a time!

I only spent a day here, there was so much to see, ideally i needed a few days!
